The ArtistMelanie is a self-taught artist working in oils. Always present in her work is "emotional essence". Moments are "told" through use of colour, light and composition. Her work has been described as romantic, passionate and fresh. "A pretty scene may not necessarily inspire me. It is the places and experiences I feel I HAVE to paint that end up on canvas," Melanie says. Melanie Jane is a full-time artist working from her home studio in Maple Ridge where she also teaches painting to people of all ages. Her work is exhibited in galleries, and she participates in shows in the Lower Mainland and in Alberta.
